Sprink Lake

While showing properties earlier today, I passed by a pond that should have been well frozen over by now. We’ve had such a mild winter so far that, anyone thinking of ice fishing has had to wait or just go further north. This time last year we were into such a deep freeze that those geese would have been on top of feet of snow atop an ice capped lake.

The geese in the middle of the water don’t seem to mind a bit and with no ice anywhere on the pond they have free wadding, but I’ll bet there webs are chilled.

So even though you can't ice fish there for obvious reasons (no ice) can you still fish there? I would still try if there are fish in there.

Better them than me, although our first winter storm gets here tonight. Only an inch of snow predicted. We will see.

Bet their little butts are chilled too Ed! As Todd asked wonder if there is any fishing going on think the fish are still smart and sleeping at the bottom.

It always amazes me when ducks will swim and float on a wintertime pond.  I can understand it in Hawaii, Southern California, or Florida.  But Connecticut, what are they thinking:-)

Ed, I'm not ready to take the "Polar" plunge into Lake Michigan like so many others, even though this has been an unusually mild winter.

Ed both last year and this year will be years to be remember.  We had the most snow I can ever remember having, and this year we have had the least amount of snow that I can ever remember having.

The temperature also has been unusually warm, I have not seen any ice fishing at all this year.

Hi Ed - I have seen some ponds and other water bodies in the Toronto area like your photo.

Hi Ed, you have had a mild winter in Conn. My sister lives in Southington, and last winter I called

every day to see how much snow she had to shovel. She was off the hook this year.

Have a great summer.
