Groundhog Day 2016, but unlike the movie with Bill Murray, we will not be stuck in a loop of winter like we were last year.
At dawn of this day, Punxsutawney Phil emerged from his burrow and was not frightened by his shadow. As thought on cue, Colchester Chuckles in CT also thought that we should relax and wait for an early spring.
For many here in CT it's as if we have been in a tepid fall since November as we have enjoyed some mild temperatures. Even the Nor'easter that came through here 10 days ago has been forgotten as the snow is almost completely gone.
That doesn't mean we should star the fertilizer on the lawns s yet as February is an unpredictable month and we can still get walloped with a few more flakes before it's done.
But for now, we can enjoy the mild temperatures as we are projected to get colder and wet before the week is out.
Groundhog Day 2016 oh what great news we got.

Hi Ed. Who can argue with Phil & Chuckles? I am still waiting to see if we got walloped before spring.
HI Ed... it's not just February that can be unpredictable; there's still March to get through, as well, and which can be very finicky. But that being said, I'm glad you are happy with the predictions from Phil and Chuckles... hope they come true for you.
Good morning again Ed. I agree with your conclusion and won't be putting the shovel away just yet.
Hi Ed Silva,
Yes here in Connecticut we are having a very mild winter, feels like spring this week.
"I am a rodent not a meteorologist" stated Phil! Have a great day!
I call this great news Ed. Adios to the Winter.
Ed,
We are happy for you, we just escaped from the big storm in Denver, yesterday afternoon...it was 43 degrees at 8AM this morning, and I love Gary L. Waters, Broker Owner, Waters Realty of Brevard, LLC comment. A
Ed and early Spring is OK with me, and if the little guy is right I will stop suggesting he be made in to a pot of stew :)
Oh Boy, only 6 more weeks until the Spring Sales Rush!
Oh.... you are not alone in wanting spring to get here soon - thanks for following me - thank you very much!
Hi Ed - I really can't argue with that. Let's hope for an early spring this year.
Good morning Ed. These folks have created a pretty good gig and as a result the local economy continues to benefit. Good for them.
Thanks for sharing the good news Ed Silva - I was hoping it was going to be true and by the poppies I saw the day before, I was sure I was going to be right too!
I think the best thing about Ground Hog day is that when he doesn't see his shadow, it's a sign of hope and that makes others happy!
Ed, I can already tell by what Mom N. is doing that we will be having an early spring. The sprouts, the critters are letting me know. Who needs a weatherman?
Ed, I hope you get your early spring and as for Groundhog day...I was so looking forward to seeing the movie, but couldn't find it anywhere. You may remember one of my past posts about the making of the movie in my little home town of Woodstock, Ill.
