Ed's Chesprocott Region Blog: What A Difference a Year Makes, Is Spring 2016 Around the Corner

What A Difference a Year Makes, Is Spring 2016 Around the Corner

Back in early February, Punxsutawney Phil predicted an early spring. After what we experienced last year, it sounded too good to be true. After all, o year we were pelted with snow almost daily in February and it carried over into mid March as well.

So how shocked can I be as I walked along the yard Saturday, Feb 27 to see sprouts where I know the daffodils are planted?

Early spring 2016

It's still a little early, and if we get more snow, which is highly possibly, these may get burnt and not recover.

But for now, it is a sight to make one smile.

Ed, Our winter has been so up and down that we do have some daffodils that poked up sprouts around November and got burned.  We've got a lot of recent growth on other spots and our snow drops our blooming.  Supposed to reach the 60s today, not a bad day at all :)  Bill

Good morning Ed. Hope these sprouts don't need to get confused again and retreat under the cover of snow and freezing temperatures.

You may have to find these little guys a blanket before a blanket of snow covers them...we have 50's this weekend...and snow in the forecast...

Ed, you did have an awful "spring", and glad you have not had that much snow this year.  We have bulbs coming up now too!

I am hopeful that Phil will be correct and the warmer temps will hold but predictions of temps back in the 40's are predicted for the weekend.

Ed for once I hope that little rodent is right.  It would be nice to see some color soon.

I'm so happy to see spring has sprung in CT!!! Just a few weeks ago you commented on my post and it seemed like it would be sometime far, far into the future before you'd get to see spring again.

This is great news!!! Have faith!!!!
