Ed's Chesprocott Region Blog: It's Time to Change the Clocks for Daylight Savings Time

It's Time to Change the Clocks for Daylight Savings Time

The time has come to change the clocks and get ready for the longer days of spring. It's called the spring Equinox, and it represents the time of year when the day has the same amount of light and dark, due to the rotation of the earth and it's turn around the sun.

It's Time to Change the Clocks for Daylight Savings Time

What this means is for many people that wake up on Sunday morning they will be upset when they realize they didn't move their clocks and are late for all the plans they had that day.  Not to mention the disruption when they walk into church and all eyes turn to them starting from the pulpit.

It is also a god opportunity to make sure all the batteries in smoke detectors and here in Connecticut Carbon monoxide detectors are changed .

For people with systems on timers like outdoor lights or like myself regenerating system for water purifiers, those timers need to be checked ad adjusted for the time change.

The time change is official around 2 AM, but don't wait and change them forward before you go to bed.

One of the nice benefits of the time change is the extra daylight in the afternoon which will really be appreciated as the weather gets more spring-like.

Ed I will start a Crusade against this concept! I want the rest of the country to be like Arizona and Hawaii, no changing of the clock, no disturbing our body clocks not disturbing of the animals routines for breakfast and dinner....Endre

Hi Ed

No doubt despite all the reminders there wil be some that forget. I wish we would just stop with the time changes and leave it one way or the other as HI and AZ do.

I will remember to change my clock, but I wish we could stay on this time zone and not keep changing it.. It is disruptive to my body clock... and I really don't see any reason for it...

Thanks for the reminder Ed. I always love when we fall back in the fall & we get that extra hour. Hate losing it in the spring but at least we get an hour closer to summer

Hi Ed Silva - The one thing I have had to do in the past is uncheck the daylight savings box or switch on all auto clocks and computers.  We don't change so my  problem was that it changed and i didn't realize it and got ready an hour early!

Ed I am already missing my hour of sleep, but I am going to enjoy the extra hour of daylight tomorrow.
