Ed's Chesprocott Region Blog: The Postcard Quest is Nearing the Finish Line

The Postcard Quest is Nearing the Finish Line

ActiveRainers Care and Have Helped Tremendously

We are nearing the end of the school year and with that will be the end of the postcard challenge for my grandson.  The class had a task which was to reach out to friends and family across the country to get postcards with postmarks from the states as well as each card to include 2 facts of that state.

The Postcard Chase is Nearing the Finish Line

As loving grandparents, we did our part with selected stops along the drive back from vacationing in Florida. I of course felt the need to reach out on this blog platform and see if some sympathetic friends would assist and it has been wonderful for the activity.

The response from friends, family and ActiveRainers has been very positive and with just a few weeks left there are still a few gaps to fill over the next 3 weeks.  So far, 32 states have been acknowledged as well as the Washington DC area

The missing states are detailed as follows:

Arkansas
Idaho
Iowa
Kansas
Louisiana
Minnesota
Mississippi
Missouri
Montana
Nebraska
New Jersey
New Mexico
Oklahoma
Rhode Island
South Dakota
Texas
Vermont

West Virginia

My wife and I have stopped while on vacation to reach out and personally meet ActiveRainers. This school project for Raphael will have us making some additional friendship breaks with our future travels.

Th challenge is supposed to stop just before the end of their school year, but we would request that all postcards be received by June 7.

If this post should reach someone in the above open states, the rules are a postcard with 2 facts mailed as follows:

Oh no, I completely dropped the ball on this. I'm so sorry. It appears as if someone else sent you Washington and Oregon, is that correct. If not, I'll run out today and try to find something to send. I did look one day at my usual spots and couldn't find any...

Debb Janes EcoBroker and Bernie Stea JD   We did get cards from both those states. Michael Eisenberg was quick to respond and we got a card from Oregon from someone named Eric but no last name so we don't know who to thank. I don't want to gve anyone any additional work so only if you're able to find something easily.  I found postcards at a truck stop.

Hello Ed - Raphael must be excited: 1) the school year is almost over and summer vacation awaits plus 2) the number postcards arriving.

Since I am one of the few people still posting from Oklahoma I will try to get one in the mail tomorrow.

Good afternoon Ed - so sorry that I came up empty handed.  I will see if a trip over to New Jersey yields a good card.

Michael Jacobs   Yes Raphael is happy for the number of postcards he has received and for their states.

He likes school so being off for the summer  is not something he gets anxious for

Myrl Jeffcoat   He did get a lot of cards and is excited for some of the harder states being represented

Ron and Alexandra Seigel   You have been very supportive, and it is greatly appreciated.

He is not out for individual honors just to get the class a greater number of cards

Grant Schneider   I appreciate the offer and the intent.  I had reached out to Wayne and Jean Marie but did not hear back from them.

Ed Silva

Ed, Thank you for the shoutout, it was a nice surprise! It seems every year a friend or business associate requests help on a child's school project and I am always happy to help as much as I can.

Last year I did the Flat Stanley project for a friend up north and it was a lot of fun. I just wish these things had existed when we were in school...what a great way for the kids to learn!

It would be great if you could get more states before the deadline.

Perhaps Kasey & John Boles, John McCormack, CRS , Pat Starnes-Front Gate Realty and Rebecca Gaujot, Realtor® would be willing to assist.

Also, @Kathy Streib now lives in Texas but she does not pop up when I try to tag her.

And Mike McCann - Nebraska Farm Land Broker may be willing to cover Nebraska.

Kasey & John Boles Thanks, Kasey! That would be great and much appreciated, I'm sure.

Ed Silva When is the deadline? I did not see a date in your post?

Posted by Diana Zaccaro, "The Accidental Blogger" Cocoa Beach, Florida (Tropical Beachside brokered by eXp) about 1 year ago

Diana Zaccaro   Thanks again for your enthusiasm.  I have reached out to some of those you mention but have gotten no response.

The class is supposed to get them in before the end of their school year but I asked his mother and she would like them received by June 7.

Kasey & John Boles   I had reached out to Marte, but she is in a more isolated area and not likely to get a post card.  Your help would fill in another state

Hi Ed,  I would be happy to help out, but it looks like they are not it need of WI.  Thinking of people I know in MN and NM...

Hi Ed, I was hoping to have a card in the mail from Iowa before I responded to this post. However, finding a postcard is proving to be somewhat challenging. :) I am sure I'll get one to your Grandson sometime next week though. It can't be THAT hard to find a card!

Hey Ed, I hope the cards I sent helped...if nothing else I'm sure Raphael got a kick out of the Rocket City cards.

Hi Ed - I went to town today and remembered to search our grocery store for a post card - they're hidden where I doubt if any tourist would see them. How silly!

My find will be in tomorrow's mail...

Nick T Pappas We both enjoyed the rocket cards.  He has been most appreciative of all the cards he's received

Hello Ed Silva Who knew a postcard was so difficult to find these days?

As I told Endre Barath, Jr.   I stopped at 5 stores before I found one!  It went in the mail yesterday and I also took photos of it just in case the mail is slow with the holiday weekend...if it doesn't arrive in time, let me know and I will send you the pictures - I am sure his teacher would count that!
