Reaching the Home Stretch for the Grandson's Postcard Project

Reaching the Home Stretch for the Grandson's Postcard Project

For those who are not familiar with this topic, I have been helping my Grandson Raphael and his class with a project for school. The task is to reach out to friends and family across the country to get postcards with postmarks from the states as well as including 2 facts of that state.

Reaching the Home Stretch for the Grandson's Postcard Project

The response from friends, family and ActiveRainers has been extremely positive and as we hit the last days of the project, we have a few states that we have not been able to reach.

This is not to sound like a complaint, and for what has been received we are beyond appreciative for what has been mailed in.  Finding postcards that identify an area and once where so common across the country has all but disappeared except for areas that have high vacation visitors, and just maybe a parent would want their child to send a greeting back to a non technology connected relative.

Reaching the Home Stretch for the Grandson's Postcard Project

The class will submit their last postcards on June 10. As of this writing we have 37 states and the DC area covered.   The states with no response as of this writing are as follows:

Arkansas
Kansas
Louisiana
Minnesota
Missouri
Montana
Nebraska
New Jersey
New Mexico
Oklahoma
South Dakota
Vermont
West Virginia

I have made attempts to reach out to fellow Rainers that I have befriended along the way, and have gotten a wonderful assist from fellow ActiveRain members who have re-blogged these posts as well as interjecting their own style of blogging persuasion.

All postcards should be mailed to:

REMAX Professionals
945 Queen St
Southington CT 06489
Attn: Raphael Antonacci

Again my heartfelt thanks go out to all that have been gracious enough to respond. The post card count is currently at 74 with a card sent from Washington DC as well.

Hi Ed:

Sounds like Raphael's project has gone reasonably well. I"ll think through who I know in these states.

Jeff Dowler, CRS   A couple of states have been committed, but as of yesterday I had not received the postcards.  I guess it's called snail mail for a reason. not t mention how easy it is to be slipped into another person's magazine or advertising newspapers

Ed,

I hope you will get more postcards with this appeal. All the best.

You still have reached an impressive number of states, Ed.  Perhaps, a few more will show up before it is over.

When they issued 13 cent postage stamp of America with 50 state flags, I undertook collecting cancelled or used stamps from each state. Oh, boy boy, that was quite an effort. Finally I mailed myself a few states and soaked stamps to complete my collection.

I have someone I can contact in NJ if you need me to, but...I'm confused....why do you need NJ if Sheila Anderson sent a card?

This is so cute and so cool, I don't know anybody in those areas, to help you, but if you need any help from Florida just let me know, I will gladly be here for you. Let us know how many you got at the end 😊. Good luck.

Myrl Jeffcoat   We are currently at 38 with a possibility of a least 40 but the rest is up to my AR friends to help reach out.

Wanda Kubat-Nerdin - Wanda Can!   Your cards were not only appreciated but as fodder for a visit in the future for all the beauty you showed.

Hannah Williams    Again you have been helpful, Thank you.

Sam Shueh   It is somewhat of a collection but I can;t mail the cards to my grandson unless I am in the states and I did do that when I could.

JoAnn Moore    Thanks for the shout out and the help.  I did send an email to her but did not get a reply or response.  People find it difficult to step up at times.

Jan Green   Thanks for the help as well.

Dorie Dillard CRS GRI ABR   Thanks for stopping. and Yes I do have a soft spot for the boy

Endre Barath, Jr.    I should say thank you at least 9 times for your contribution and for your not so subtle nudges to members in our un-acknowledged states.

Dagny Eason   I know you have a full plate and I had CT covered. As for Montana your daughter can only help if she has a friend  back there that can mail it with a Montana postmark and facts  CA has been the most prolific state

Laura Cerrano   I'm not so sure the teacher had tried to even find a postcard before she gave the lass this project.  Raphael is leading the class for states with the next closest classmate at 30 states.

Andrea.B Ferreira 954-303-8289 CRS   We covered FL while we there on vacation in April but have also gotten a tremendous amount of help and post cards from Diana Zaccaro

Anne Corbin   and it was mucg appreciated.  If you could get a family member from MO to join in it would take another state off the board.  Thank you so much

Michael Jacobs   It has been a great response from the AR family.

Sharon Tara   Greatly appreciated. BTW the hologram card was a big success with the teacher and the class.

Bob Crane   Thanks.  I would have thought with your travels you would have been in one of the missing states as well.

Ricardo Mello   It has been an interesting project.  I would be curious as to the last time the teacher that assigned this project went looking for a postcard
